Regulations Expressed As Logical Models (REALM)

چکیده
Recent years have seen a number of high-profile incidents of corporate accounting fraud, security violations, terrorist acts, and disruptions of major financial markets. This has led to a proliferation of new regulations that directly impact businesses. As a result, businesses, in particular publicly traded companies, face the daunting task of complying with an increasing number of intricate and constantly evolving regulations. Together with the growing complexity of today’s enterprises this requires a holistic compliance management approach with the goal of continually increasing automation. We introduce REALM (Regulations Expressed as Logical Models), a metamodel and method for modeling regulations and managing them in a systematic lifecycle in an enterprise. We formalize regulatory requirements as sets of compliance rules in a novel real-time temporal object logic over concept models in UML, together with metadata for traceability. REALM provides the basis for subsequent model transformations, deployment, and continuous monitoring and enforcement of compliance in real business processes and IT systems.

Modalities in the Realm of Questions: Axiomatizing Inquisitive Epistemic Logic
Building on ideas from inquisitive semantics, the recently proposed framework of inquisitive epistemic logic (IEL) provides the tools to model and reason about scenarios in which agents do not only have information, but also entertain issues. This framework has been shown to allow for a generalization to issues of important notions, such as common knowledge and public announcements, and it has ...

The purpose of this study was to test a model where body-related self-conscious emotions of shame, guilt, and pride were associated with physical activity regulations and behavior. Adult women (N = 389; M age = 29.82, SD = 15.20 years) completed a questionnaire assessing body-related pride, shame, and guilt, motivational regulations, and leisure-time physical activity. The hypothesized measurem...
متن کاملQualitative modelling and analysis of regulations in multi-cellular systems using Petri nets and topological collections
In this paper, we aim at modelling and analyzing the regulation processes in multi-cellular biological systems, in particular tissues. The modelling framework is based on interconnected logical regulatory networks (à la René Thomas) equipped with information about their spatial relationships. The semantics of such models is expressed through colored Petri nets to implement regulation rules, com...
متن کاملREALM: Replication of Data for a Logical Group Based MANET Database
Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks, or MANETs, provide communication between free-roaming mobile hosts without a fixed infrastructure. These MANETs operate under conditions of limited battery power and may also experience frequent network partitioning. This paper introduces a data replication technique called REALM (REplication of data for A Logical group based MANET database). REALM takes advantage of app...
متن کاملLogic-Based Tools for Legal Contract Drafting: prospects and problems
Much of the research in the Artificial Intelligence and Law community has been concerned with the representation of legislation and regulations with a view to provide advisory systems for policy makers, legal practitioners and the general public. A considerable amount of research in Artificial Intelligence and Law focused on logic-based representations of legislation and regulations (for a comp...
